Leases

We occasionally have horses for lease at our facility, for lessons and independent riding.  We do our best to match riders with horses that will help them meet their goals.

Lease Rates

Two days per week - $300 per month, plus lessons
Three days per week- $500 per month, plus lessons
Five days per week - $700 per month, plus lessons

Leasers must also enroll in a lesson program with at least one lesson per week.
DCD believes strongly that in order to grow riders need time in the saddle, in lessons and on their own. We love and appreciate riders' lives outside of the barn and offer them a program where they enjoy progress in a warm, supportive environment - a refuge from their daily stressors.

Our all-inclusive leasing provides the opportunity to build a relationship with a horse and feel a sense of ownership without the variable expenses of owning. All tack and grooming supplies are provided. (You may use your own saddle provided it fits - as determined by the horse's owner.

Leasing is strongly encouraged as single lessons have very limited availability.

We have a strong network of horses and riders. If we don't have the perfect horse for you we can certainly find one!

Details

  • One lesson per week is mandatory. ​Free rides are contingent upon lessons.
  • Additional lessons may be purchased at regular rates. Leased horses may be shown for no additional fee (show coaching and expenses not included). Leased horses can be placed in training at half the published training rate. Please contact us for details.
  • Leased horses may have up to two riders per day, with at least 2 hours between rides. Regular schedules are strongly encouraged.
  • Leased horses may be used for lessons on lease days but leaser has priority.
  • 30 days written notice is requested to terminate a lease.
  • A $150 lease deposit will be added to your first lease bill. It will be credited to your final lease bill provided at least 30 days written notice is received.
  • Fitness is vital to the health and wellbeing of horses. Leasers who are unable to ride on their scheduled day may offer their ride to another current DCD leaser or student. Please contact Emily if you will be missing ride days.
  • We do our best to keep our horses healthy and fit for work, but illness and lameness does occur. Every effort will be made to provide another school horse for your use if your lease horse is unridable. Should your horse remain unridable for more than 30 days you will have the option to terminate your lease.
Leasing is not just about riding - it is a part time ownership experience. As such, we expect leasers to participate in their horse's care rain or shine!
